Hello Fellow Professionals,
I'm a seasoned computer programmer and web developer with almost 2 decades of experience, and unfortunately, I'm also currently unemployed.
Like many members of Generation X in the technology sector, I've recently started facing challenges in finding traditional employment opportunities due to the increasing influence of artificial intelligence and ever-prevalent age-ism that inevitably occurs in the technology job sector.
I strongly suspect there are others like me who are also looking for ways to regain control over their professional future.
Rather than continuing the relentless job hunt seeking limited opportunities with established companies, I would like to connect with others who are in a similar circumstance as myself to explore collaborative possibilities.
The goal would be to assemble a group of like-minded individuals facing similar unemployment circumstances so that we could collaborate and create a new professional path together.
At this point, I have no specific business idea in mind.
Instead, my focus is first on reaching out on Craigslist to discuss this idea with others.
The goal is to form a network of seasoned experts facing similar employment circumstances as the one I am in who can bring their valuable and unique skills to the table for mutual support and exploration.
This is not about seeking external investors nor individual entrepreneurship on my part; it's about connecting with professionals who are interested in exploring opportunities together.
I believe that by pooling our talents and expertise, we can create our own work opportunity and explore potential ventures collaboratively.
There is no "natural order of things" that forbids us from doing this.
Our past work experiences are far more valuable than mere stepping stones to another job; they can be the foundation for becoming professionals who network and collaborate on new ventures.
Many may not realize the potential they have to COMPETE in the business sector rather than just be mere employees working to profit some other stakeholder, and I think it's time we awakened to that realization.
