SUMMARY
The Logistics Management Lead Ops Supervisor is responsible for managing the relationship and safety performance with Vendor companies working for Kirby.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
Be a leader in the Shore Tankering Operations Group, while demonstrating “The Kirby Way,” and ensuring those Core Values are representative of the group.
Develop relationships with the Vendor Companies management and understand their SMS and culture.
Evaluate the performance of Tankering vendors in the and develop plans with the management of the company to improve performance.
Ensure each Vendor stays on track, managing their goals and KPIs.
Influence the performance of assigned companies and tankermen through field transfer assessments and office meetings, targeting areas needing improvement and developing initiatives to impact the areas.
Perform a targeted number of transfer assessments on Vendor companies in all areas.
Coordinate with vendor management to attend safety meetings in all operating areas.
Utilize safety meetings to test vendor oversight and tankermen knowledge.
Participate in the Shore Tankering Vendor KPI, Monthly Meeting, and Quarterly Meeting processes to ensure the vendors are following the Kirby Best Practices.
Respond to incidents and serve as the on-scene incident commander as assigned.
Investigate incidents involving Tankering vendors, looking for systemic improvements that will impact the cargo transfer operations within Kirby and communicate those initiatives through the MOC and procedure change processes.
Give presentations to the vendor owners at the various meetings involving the Vendor Community.
Participate in committees as assigned, working with other departments within Kirby to impact overall performance.
Be safety focused and exhibit Stop Work Responsibility.
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS

Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Working knowledge of cargo transfer operation, tankerman license, DL and LG endorsements.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Must work a flexible schedule and manage time well, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
Must be able to drive to and from hub cities.
Must be able to endure harsh environment, which includes extreme temperature, rain, ice, sleet, wind wave action and long hours during transfer assessments.
Must be prepared to travel over 50% of the time.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent maritime experience preferred
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in the marine industry, including thorough working knowledge of tank barge operations and Kirby tank barge equipment.
