Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects.
Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms.
May serve as lead worker.
Employees are virtually self-supervising and assume accountability for their work.
Essential Duties: Transport Engineer Spec II Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.
Writes general notes, specifications and provisions.
Performs advanced and specialized design work.
Performs advanced and specialized drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphic presentations that include distinctive design features.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Performs advanced and specialized drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphic presentations that include distinctive design features.

Experience Transport Engineer Spec II: 7 years in drafting, design, and plan preparation Transport Engineer Spec III: 8 years in drafting, design, and plan preparation Transport Engineer Spec IV: 9 years in drafting, design, and plan preparation These substitutions apply to all levels: (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent).
Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license.
This position requires driving a state vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications: Roadway illumination related experience in Traffic Engineering design using Microstation, Sign Cad, ORD,etc.
