JOB SUMMARY
The primary focus of the Field Technician (F&S) will install, test, debug, troubleshoot, diagnosis, repair, upgrade for Fire Alarm and other low voltage systems.
The systems include Access Control, CCTV, Mass Notification, Intercom, and Data among other life safety and security systems.
The Field Technician must be knowledgeable of Fire Alarm and Security installation services.
This position will be responsible for crew supervision, technical resources, training, and developing key skills for level I and II technicians.
The Field Technician (F&S) will require daily local travel within the greater Houston area with occasional travel requiring overnight accommodation.

JOB DUTIES Essential Duties Responsible for field personnel conduct and productivity while working in the field.
Supervise and coordinate several installation crews and projects.
Provide guidance and direction to assigned field staff to fulfill assignments efficiently and with high quality to meet budget and time constraints.
Accountable for controlling costs and maintaining quality control on all assigned tasks.
Continual improvement in the installation/commissioning process with focus on lessons learned and knowledge.
Support Service Department Manager with daily resource coordination and utilization.
Service, troubleshoot, and install a variety of life safety systems.
Perform post-installation support such as training, troubleshooting, and subsequent service at customer sites.
Perform validations, diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, and other activities per job specifications.
Identify and communicate concerns found in the field and effectively work with technical support team to quickly resolve.
Perform complex service or system calls and interact with customers to provide quality service and feedback on problem evaluation and resolution.
Train and mentor level I & II technicians to build competent and highly skilled service team.
Availability to work various hours, including days, nights, weekends, and on-call rotation when necessary.
Document and file reports of all installations, inspections, maintenance and repair work, and failures.
Ensure each complete installation or service rendered is accepted by getting the customer’s signature on the service report form for our record.
Perform complex product and service training to customers per project specification.
Participate in the negotiation and administration of service or system contracts.
Interact with clients, suppliers, contractors, and relevant authorities.
Daily significant interaction with supervisor and other co-workers.
General contact with customers, over the phone, email, and in person.
Other duties, as assigned, within the ability and responsibility level of the job.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Construction field environment may require climbing stairs, standing, bending, and lifting.
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS Office, production / manufacturing shop environment.
Periodic daily and/or overnight travel in the field may be required.

May be required to work overtime as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS Educational/Experience Requirements 5+ years Field Service and installation experience working with commercial Fire Alarm and other low voltage systems including Burglary, Access Control, CCTV, Mass Notification, Intercom and Data, among other security and life safety systems.
High School Diploma or Technical associate degree highly preferred.
Special Skills, Knowledge, or Abilities Able to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and submittal specifications.
Read and interpret systems programs/software and operational product manuals.
Knowledge of Notifier fire alarm systems.
Work independently and with minimal supervision.
Leadership and ability to make sensible decisions.
Experience using an MEWP (Scissor or single-man lift).
Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a challenging environment & manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Attention to detail.
Highly motivated, organized and a team player.
Build relationships with customers.
The ability to distinguish colors as conductor colors are associated with voltage levels and signal type.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Candidates must have a Texas valid drivers’ license and insurance.
Valid Texas FAL or APS Valid Texas Security License Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Justice Information Service (CJIS) badge.
NICET Level 1 certification a plus OTHER Requires a safe driving record, drug testing, and a clear background check.
