Job Purpose:
The Service Technician performs maintenance, repairs and/or installation for HVAC/R equipment, duct systems, fittings, grilles/registers/diffusers, controls, and related equipment.
Performs other duties/tasks as required.
Detailed Responsibilities:
Install/repair HVAC related equipment and accessories in accordance to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Complete approved maintenance for HVAC/R equipment within industry standard hours per maintenance pricing guide
Identify potential problems during maintenance that might affect current or future system performance.
Provides customers with information on new equipment when existing equipment exceeds 10 years of age or is in generally poor condition.
Present findings and options to customers, providing advice as needed/requested.
Provide customers with information and pricing on service agreements, accessories, and other comfort improvements.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of McWilliams and Son's products and services.
Pick up parts from supply houses/office and deliver to technicians in the field as needed.
Identify and suggest opportunities for quality and cost improvements.
Perform/assist with maintenance and service/repair work as needed.
Maintain a clean equipment/work area.
Verify correct operation of all maintained customer equipment, demonstrating and providing training for
customer, as requested.
Effectively manage relationships with clients through clear communication, addressing all concerns, questions, or problems expediently.
Ensure vehicle is stocked, accurately inventoried, kept clean and in safe working order.
Return defective warranty parts and unused inventory to the branch.
Inform a manager if the client does not have HVAC service before leaving the call.
Facilitate rescheduling client appointment, if call is not complete.
Accurately complete all required documentation on services performed including “check list”.
Maintain a professional image at all times by wearing company approved uniform.
Maintain a courteous demeanor with clients and associates at all times.
Ensure complete customer satisfaction and/or salesperson/supervisor sign-off upon completion of work.
Abide by all standards of performance and ethics.
Participate in company sponsored training classes and other duties as assigned.
Follow all safety policies and procedures and inform a manager or team leader of any safety issues.
Manage callback ratios and labor margins.
Provide customers with benefits and pricing on VIP service agreements, accessories, and other comfort improvements, collecting for performed work, as applicable.
Complete all paperwork required by management and record hours and all materials used.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High School diploma or GED is required.
EPA Certified for all R22.
ICE/NATE Certification is preferred.
Ability to lift 100 or more pounds.

Knowledge of the fundamental operational functionality of residential air conditioning, heating, and
ventilation equipment, and installation and layout requirements of residential duct work and fittings.
Able to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot problems with refrigerant, electrical, and duct systems on HVAC equipment.
Possess good analytical skills and attention to detail.
Must be able to use a computer tablet, smart phone and read a map or follow GPS.
Valid driver’s license, and approved to drive by company’s insurance carrier.
Neat, clean, professional appearance and excellent interpersonal communication skills with a desire to exceed client expectations and function in a team environment.
Working Conditions:
Regularly works in indoor/outdoor elements with extreme variation in temperatures.
Climbing, heavy lifting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and reaching are required for this position.
Physical Requirements:
Job is physically demanding, requiring standing for extended periods of time, lifting heavy objects on a regular basis, and doing repetitive tasks with few breaks, working outdoors in all types of weather, working with challenging clients, and working in tight or cramped spaces for long periods of time.
Must have good visual acuity to see and focus close, at a distance, and with normal peripheral vision and normal depth perception,
Willing to work hours outside of normal work schedule, if needed.
