Description:
The Tooling Specialist Helper shall operate in the functions of Tooling Preparation in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold.
Greasy, dirty and noisy environment.
Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds.
Standing and walking considerable distances.
Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats.
Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent
1.
2.
One year of related experience in the production of tooling is preferred.

3.
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
1.
4.
Manual dexterity required for operating, machinery, hand tools and hand held technical devices.

5.
Able to use and read the measurement devices such as micrometers, calipers, dial gauges etc is preferred.

6.
Shows a demonstrated competence in some of the following: electrical, hydraulics, tool and die.

7.
Must be available to work outside the normal work week schedule when needed.
(Emergency breakdowns and Scheduled Outages).

Responsibilities:

Prepare the tooling for the designated change overs properly and in the defined timeline.
2.

Clean and inspect the tooling coming out of the pipe mill.
2.
3.
Make a list of items to be ordered for the tooling shop and follow up the list with the supervisor to prevent production delays.

4.
Service/Lubricate/grease the tooling that comes out of the pipe mill systematically.

5.
Help the pipe mill operators to fix the tooling issues encountered during the operation.

6.
Review work orders and specifications to determine materials needed.

7.
Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.

8.
Employee must follow the 5S implementation procedure.

Activities:

1.
Operates machine shop tooling and machines: mills, drills, flame cutters, hoists
3.
2.
Repairs tooling and fixtures damaged in production.
3.
3.
Welds and assembles tooling when design is complete to insure function, quality, and safety standards.
3.
4.
Assembles parts into product and verifies dimensions and alignments.
3.
5.
Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock to lay out for machining.
3.
6.
Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.

7.
Check that all machinery is properly serviced before starting up and during shift
3.
8.
Assists in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.
3.
9.
Communicate with crew to achieve a quality product.
3.
10.
Assist in changeovers and Mill stops.
3.
11.
This position may require operating Forklift and Overhead Crane.

12.
Other duties as assigned.
