*HVAC/R Technician *
(The HVAC/R Technician reports to the Operations Manager)

* *General Requirements: * * Experience of 3+ years preferred * Valid Texas Driver’s License * Industry related training (32 Hours per year) * EPA I/II Certified or Universal * OSHA 10 Hour-Certification (Preferred) * Criminal Justice Background Clearance * Comprehensive Drug Testing * TDL Registered *Qualifications:* Education equivalent to completion of high school or technical school; plus meet or exceed the above general requirements and required testing certificates and licenses.
*All Required Testing Certificates & Licenses must be acquired by your 90thday or employment is subject to termination.
* *Working Environment:* Commercial, Multi-Family, Residential, & Restaurants *Types of Service Calls: *No Cool, No Heat, Refrigeration, Kitchen Equipment, Exhaust/Makeup Fan, PM/Inspection, Installation, Drain Lines, Warranty, and Ductwork.
*Summary:* Responsible for self-managing, maintaining, repairing, installing, and rebuilding air conditioning, heating, ventilation, kitchen and refrigeration equipment.
Additional duties may include mentoring and leadership, instruction, training, customer follow-up, quotes, technical guidance, prioritizing, assigning and scheduling work for the team.
*Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:* This is a full-time position that will typically involve 32+ hours a week.
*Time: Employees are not authorized to clock into work or be on the premises before 7:45 AM.
* All employees are required to be in route to their first dispatch no later than 8:15 AM.
The Company recommends all technicians arrive as close to 7:45 AM as possible to ensure adequate time to gather equipment, materials, turn in paperwork, etc.

While schedules may vary in accordance with the needs of jobs and/or work to be done, the Company will observe a five-day workweek Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.
m.
to 5:00 p.
m.
and may also include after hours emergency service.
All employees are expected to be at work on time.
*Responsibilities:* Provide service, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance for residential, restaurant, multi-family, and commercial customers with the attempt to reduce down times and prevent equipment interruptions and failures.
Communicate daily to Operations Manager to assure success of service calls, installations, and preventive maintenance programs are being completed to company standards.
All vehicles are required to be parked on company property at the end of the day unless otherwise approved by Operations Manager.

* Perform operational inspections and equipment report logging on all HVAC/R equipment to ensure safe operations; record improper operation of equipment, service and adjust if required and perform safety checks on heating equipment prior to the heating season; perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance; perform diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures.
* Perform customer follow-ups to previous day repairs.
* Ability to perform extensive preventative maintenance operations while preventing customer interruptions.
* Manage pending work orders and equipment replacements with Operations Manager.
* Manage and assure full compliance in regard to EPA Freon requirements and displacement.
* Assist in maintaining that warehouse is kept clean.
* Report to Operations Manager on operational progress and concerns, workloads, schedules and/or interruptions to the schedule.
* Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
*Knowledge:* * Knowledge of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration principles and practices, on residential/commercial systems.
* Knowledge of safety precautions used in cooling and heating equipment.
* Knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment.
* Knowledge and certification in the handling of chlorofluorocarbons for recovery and recycling.

* Advanced knowledge of HVAC/R systems and component level diagnostic skills.
*Materials and Equipment Operating Knowledge: * * Operating knowledge of computers, peripherals, telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail.
* Operating knowledge of basic hand tools and other specialized HVAC tools required.
* Operating knowledge of refrigerant recovery equipment and vacuum pump required.
* Operating knowledge of analog and digital meters; computerized air quality meters.
* Operating knowledge of manual lifts, and motorized lifts.
*Budget and Resource responsibility: * * Document purchases made on credit card and weekly expense reports.
* Work within an approved budget on all service calls, repairs and installations, including odd tasks and jobs.
* Maintain all inventories (truck stock & warehouse) *Accurately complete all paperwork:* * Dispatch/Job numbers must be written on each invoice.
* Record model number, serial number, brand and the age of each system component on every single invoice so that information can be accurately entered into Desco * Price sheet billing codes must be documented on all invoices for each diagnostic, repair, and installation performed.
* Technicians are required to update Desco dispatch with notes and appropriate job status (complete, quote, parts, complete, return, off job, etc) at the conclusion of each job/dispatch.
* Do not proceed to your next call until you have completed #1 through #4, ordered parts, and completed quotes.
If quote can not be given onsite, its is required to be completed with full details an turned in for processing within 24 hours of original dispatch.
* Technicians are required to pick up materials at suppliers using dispatch/job numbers and return for repair on the same day.
If parts are not available same day, coordinate with operations manager for other means to pick up.
* Technicians must turn in all parts receipts/packing slips daily with invoices, contracts and have corresponding job numbers written on them.
* Technicians must describe in detail the specific reason an invoice had no charge.
* Discuss preventative maintenance to every customer * Warranty calls define jobs that have malfunctioning parts on equipment covered by warranties only.
All other calls related to workmanship issues are to be defined as callbacks.
* Ensure that all warranty parts and labor are completed within 24 hours of warranty service call.
Ensure that Operations Manager has scheduled accordingly.
*Hourly: *Technician’s hourly pay rate will cover all service calls, preventative maintenance, installations, inspections, site visits, meetings, training (on-site or off-site), warehouse/office work, quotes, job take offs, vehicle maintenance, and trade shows.
(see company handbook for additional information) *\*Failure to accurately record all hours worked will be grounds for disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Altering, falsifying, tampering with time records or recording time on another employee’s time record may also result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
* *Any discrepancies or errors form the employee’s failure to correctly clock in and clock out of their time sheet(s) must be submitted in writing for payment to be issued on the next scheduled pay date.
