Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned) Oversight over budgeting, controls, and other financial matters for the Operations department.
Responsible for designing and implementing financial report and controls systems.
Executes direction from senior leadership and ensures all various business units and departments within Operations align with overall strategic directives.
Oversees the compilation of data based on statistical studies and analysis of past and current years to prepare company budget and to justify funds requested.
Takes a leadership role in identifying financial opportunities and challenges and proactively designs and implements solutions.
Regularly works with teams across the organization to coordinate on executing complex financial and operational issues.
Directs others on their team and laterally directs others to implement tactical and strategic objectives.
Reviews annual and intermediate company budget periodically to analyze trends affecting company budget needs; develops the strategy, and provides leadership in the overarching design, development, and implementation of standardized business planning, tracking, and reporting.
Also, provides analysis of the initiatives in the business plan to the budget and spend plan for reporting to the executive leadership periodically on overall performance of against budget.
Directs the overall development, coordination and technical direction of budgeting, financial management at the company level, and ensures consistency with Calpine policy.
Specific areas of responsibility may include topics such as end-to-end design and rollout of financial management systems (Peoplesoft, Maximo, etc.
), Providing Commercial pro-forma cost analysis and contract design and input regarding financial approach and strategy.

Use advanced knowledge of own function and broad knowledge of other functions.
Decisions typically related to implementation of department strategy, intradepartmental coordination, and business outcomes.
Serves as senior advisor to management; influences highly complex decisions regarding the direction or operation of department.
Results have significant impact on costs and achievement of department objectives.
Makes decisions for large-scale projects, a closely related set of projects and/or initiatives involving multiple functional areas.
Works on significant and unique issues and projects.
Regularly uses independent judgment in the evaluation of intangibles or situations with minimal precedent or standards available for reference.
Selects methods, techniques, analytical approach and evaluation criteria.
Works within broad guidelines; applies advanced technical knowledge of multiple facets to solve complex problems which may have long-term impact on the department.
May manages multiple functions within a department with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods and employees and/or May act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or highly complex special assignments and set technical direction for a department.
May have responsibility for performance reviews, promotional decisions, and pay actions or provide key input on such decisions.
Job Requirements Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, prefer Master’s Degree.
Previous project management experience.
