We are currently hiring Journeyman across Houston.
A Journeyman works under the guidance of a Foreman or Superintendent and may oversee and direct the work of a crew of 1 to 5 helpers or apprentices in installations, alterations, additions, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment on any type of project.
*PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Interprets drawings and develops an overall crew work plan.
* Lays out work and preps materials for installation.
* Does rigging and job set ups for all tasks performed or supervised.
* Performs underground layout and rough-in.
* Determines wire and conduit sizing.
* Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical benders.
* Installs BUSS feeders.
* Performs switchgear installation and terminations.
* Installs and connects power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
* Troubleshoots and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment.
* Operates any hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
* Understands and instructs assigned helpers in the safe operation of tools, use of equipment, electrical principles, and applicable codes.
* Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
* Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.
*POSITION REQUIREMENTS:*
Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills.
Must understand basic electrical theory and its application to installations.
Must be able to work occasional overtime as required.
*Licenses: *Journeyman’s License, current Driver’s License and must have own reliable transportation.
*Education: *High School Graduate, GED or equivalent.
*Experience: *Must have completed a qualified apprenticeship program and have over 8000 hours of on-the-job work experience.
