*Subject to Change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Schedules, prepares, and reviews work assignments for Inspectors.
Investigates inquiries concerning wastewater issues including but not limited to cave-ins, odors, overflowing sewers, and general sewer backups received from the general public.
Prepares and reviews reports, forms, and records in INFOR.
Assist the general public with resolving sewer complaints.
Provides feedback to enhance technical quality.
Conducts various investigations as requested by management.
Completes performance reviews, recommends disciplinary and/ or performance counseling as appropriate; ensures consistent application of personnel, policies, and procedures.
Coordinate and conduct force main inspections and manhole inspections in accordance with CMOM program.
WORKING CONDITIONS Routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, up to forty (40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier _I_ Level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires an Associate's degree in a field closely related to the area of inspection to be performed; or a high school diploma/GED and certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months in the area of inspection to be performed.
May require a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Four years of journey level experience in the area of inspection to be performed are required.
In the areas for Electrical, Elevator Trades, Plumbing, Structural, and A/C and Boiler, experience must be journey level experience received after completion of apprenticeship program.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS None.
PREFERENCES Preference shall be given to candidates with four (4) years of journey level experience in the area of construction rehabilitation inspection.
**Preference shall also be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6**.
GENERAL INFORMATION SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED: None However, the department may administer a skills assessment evaluation.
SAFETY IMPACT POSITION: Yes If yes, this position is subject to random drug testing and if a promotional position, candidate must pass an assignment drug test.
